Trades futures in grain and hive hogs. Oil futures contracts in US dollars are planned for late 1992. Options are not currently planned. The BCE acts as a clearing house and credit intermediary for the futures contracts traded through it. The exchange currently (1992) has 100 seats evenly split between the two sectors. It was established in August 1989, bases its operation of the US commodities exchanges and receives assistance from both the CME and the CBOT.
